Taxes... ugh

Joe did his Michigan taxes last night. It was a NIGHTMARE! It took longer to fill those out than it did for our federal taxes, for which we had 5 sources of regular income, dividend income, interest, college tuition issues, and even foreign taxes. Um, if Michigan is sad so many people are leaving, why the heck do they make it so awful to live/work there? I love some parts of that state, and Joe had a really good college experience there, but holy moly, what a pain to pay the state. BUT, it's done now, and as soon as we find our stamps, it'll be sent off in the mail for the last time! :) I looove living in a no-income tax state. It's fantastic. I'll happily pay the higher property taxes when we get to buy a house.. because making the choice to buy a house, and getting to save/pay down debt with our money in the meantime is fair in my opinion.

Anyway, last week my Grandma Wood had a stint put in her neck to help blood flow in a clogged vein, and is recovering quite well. She's still awfully tired, and a bit weak, but doing much better. I'll probably be writing quite a bit about Grandma, as I am one of the primary care givers for her. She and I don't have the usual, distant, super polite grandparent/grandkid relationship. We are together a LOT, and are very close. So we get mad at each other, laugh at our inside jokes, and pretty much know way the heck more about each other than most relatives. I love her and she's awesome... and where I learned to be so stubborn. :) Later this week, we're off for more stint related follow ups. Hopefully all of those go well.

And now off to make lunch for Joe. Then back to bed, since it seems my body has decided breathing is unnecessary today.

Hope your birthday was fabulous Allie. :) Welcome to twenty three!
